In many rural communities of Pakistan, women possess talent, determination, and the desire to contribute to their families—but lack access to opportunities. Cultural limitations, financial hardship, and absence of training centers often prevent them from learning practical skills that can help them earn with dignity.

Khursheed Alam Foundation recognized this gap and took a simple yet powerful step:

teaching stitching and tailoring (silai karai) to girls and women in Ali Langah and surrounding villages.

Turning Skill Into Self-Reliance

What began with only five sewing machines has now grown into a dedicated vocational hall equipped with eleven machines and structured training. Women who once stayed confined to household work now sit together, learning cutting, stitching, measurement, and finishing techniques that meet market standards.

This is not just a hobby class. It is skill-based training designed for income generation.

Participants learn how to:

• Stitch everyday clothing for families and neighbors

• Take small tailoring orders from the community

• Repair and alter garments for paid work

• Gradually build confidence to start home-based stitching services

Many participants join with no prior experience. Within months, they are confidently stitching complete dresses on their own.
