Free eye camp & School Visit
Restoring Vision and Empowering the Next Generation
Our recent dual initiative—combining a Free Eye Camp with a comprehensive School Visit—marks a significant milestone in Alam Welfare Trust’s mission to provide holistic care. At the eye camp, our team of dedicated ophthalmologists and volunteers worked tirelessly to screen hundreds of community members, providing free consultations, prescription glasses, and identifying candidates for life-changing cataract surgeries. For many elderly residents and laboring parents, this was their first opportunity to access professional eye care, proving that restoring sight is the first step toward restoring independence and quality of life.
Parallel to the medical camp, our visit to the local partner schools allowed us to focus on the future: our children. We observed vibrant classrooms where students are excelling despite their economic challenges, thanks to the educational kits and nutritional support provided by the Trust. During this visit, we also integrated a specialized pediatric eye screening for the students. Identifying vision issues early is crucial, as a child who cannot see the blackboard clearly is a child who cannot learn effectively. By addressing both health and education in one visit, we are ensuring that physical barriers do not stand in the way of academic success.
The day concluded with a heartfelt session where we distributed certificates of achievement to top-performing students and provided vision-aid kits to those in need. Seeing a grandfather regain his sight and a young student receive her first pair of glasses in the same afternoon perfectly captures the essence of Alam Welfare Trust. These initiatives are not just about temporary service; they are about building a healthy, literate, and empowered society. We are deeply grateful to our donors whose generosity allows us to bring these essential services directly to the doorsteps of those who need them most.
Summary
The Free Eye Camp and School Visit successfully integrated essential healthcare with educational support, providing free vision screenings and learning resources to ensure that both the elderly and the youth of our community can see a brighter, more promising future.
